Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

About

Usual forms of talking therapy tend not to pay much attention to physical or somatic manifestations and other effects of trauma and attachment difficulties. Research indicates that not only do trauma and attachment problems directly and significantly impact the body, but their emotional symptoms are often driven by the body, too.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) draws upon the natural wisdom of the body (posture, movement, and the nervous system) to tap into the innate drive in all of us to heal, adapt, and develop new capacities for coping and relating to others.

I often integrate Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) as clients find this helpful for their needs, however this is not always necessary.
